Business Development Associate Job Description

Engage is currently seeking an energetic Business Development Associate to help drive sales and grow the business within the digital public affairs space. The right candidate will have a passion for attracting new clients while maintaining and growing existing relationships. Other duties will include conducting market research, developing pitches and proposals, and identifying new business opportunities. If you’re interested in teaming up with Fortune 500 companies, leading advocacy organizations, and the nation’s top trade associations to deliver winning solutions in a fun, fast-paced environment—we want to talk.

The successful applicant will be resourceful, organized, motivated to increase sales and look for new and creative ways to market our products. A background in sales or marketing is strongly desirable, as is experience or familiarity with the digital and public policy arena.

This will be a new role at Engage, and if successful, have the ability to shape the position, grow the department and responsibility within the organization. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting: conduct market research, identifying potential leads, setting up calls/meetings based on activities. 
  • Managing client, lead, and networking relationships through a CRM.
  • Working closely with leadership across departments to implement growth strategies.
  • Working with the paid media team to place and manage advertising and email campaigns.
  • Managing presentations, proposals, and other documents associated with the close cycle.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and partners.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Marketing, or related field.
  • 1 - 2 years relevant work experience in business development or similar field preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as HubSpot
  • Existing public affairs sales network strongly preferred
