Senior Full-Stack PHP Developer

Engage is seeking a Senior full-stack PHP Developer to join our award-winning creative team. You’ll join the team to work on a large range of interesting projects for advocacy groups, nonprofits, membership organizations, and Fortune 500 companies.

We are looking for an ambitious engineer that finds passion in learning and possesses the initiative to enact change. You’ll be given the ability to shape development strategy, interact with clients, and provide creative solutions to interesting problems. We’re a tight-knit team that values collaboration and working together to solve problems.

What you’ll do: 

• Design and develop high-quality responsive web applications using the latest technology stack
• Elicit and fulfill front-end and back-end requirements, starting with business needs and objectives, creating functional and technical specifications, and executing against a plan to launch and maintain applications
• Develop and implement best practice standards to ensure efficient, clear, and reusable code, and work with developers to ensure code standards / best practices are being implemented
• Create and maintain the high-quality architecture and design documents including feature specifications, design specifications, flow diagrams, site maps, and process diagrams
• Employ the latest technology to re-build legacy apps and determine the best technology for new application initiatives
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies and evaluate potential and develop prototype projects using new technologies
• Lead, mentor, and develop professional competencies of the junior staff

The ideal candidate has at least three years of experience in the following areas:

• WordPress
• PHP 
• Laravel
• Templating Language: Twig (also considered: Jinja2, Blade, erb, Handlebars, Pug, etc)
• Database management, performance analysis, and database design patterns
• Build systems such as Gulp, Webpack, or Grunt
• CSS/SASS (also considered: PostCSS, Less, etc.)
• Vanilla Javascript / jQuery
• Vue.js (also considered: React, Angular)
• Basic Terminal Skills
• HTML
• Git

Bonus qualifications:

• System administration with Linux systems
• Understand concepts behind continuous development and integration
• Experience with 508 accessibility standards
• Contributor to open source
• Interested in learning other skills outside development (design, UX)

Local preferred, but open to remote.
